FG Commissions Gagarawa Power Substations in Jigawa

The Honourable Minister of Power, Engr. Sale. Mamman, FNSE, FSESN, has commissioned the 2x 60MVA, 132/33KV Substation at Gagarawa, Jigawa State, recently.
At the commissioning,he stated that the project is expected to boost the supply of electricity to several local government areas, such as Gagarawa, Taura, Ringim, Gumel and Miga as well as create job opportunity for the teaming youth and alleviate the suffering of the people in those communities and its environs.
Mamman also disclosed that the Federal Government had awarded the project for construction in 2012 with initial completion period of the project set at 24 months at cost of $4,071,959.14 + 497,820,698.96 and is designed with 2x 60MVA, 132/33KV power transformers of about 96 megawatts capacity and six outgoing 33kv feeders.
The Governor of Jigawa State, Alhaji Muhammed Badaru Abubakar, who joined the Minister on the commissioning, commended the efforts of the Minister for delivering the project which he said had lingered for over 20 years but its realization is as a result of the commitment of President Muhammadu Buhari and Minister of Power that actualized its execution, he also re-echoed of the resolve of the Federal Government to set up an industrial hub adjacent to the new substation, noting that it would be utilized for the provision of electricity to a proposed future industrial hub.
In his remarks, the Managing Director, Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) Engr.Sule Abdulaziz said the Company is working with the Ministry to boost power supply in the Country, assuring that the project would reduce power outage and system losses, thereby increasing economic and social activities in Jigawa State.
