NCS Urged to Engage Local Media on Anti-Smuggling Campaign in Katsina                        
          
The Nigerian Customs Service (NCS) has been urged to engage local media, especially radio stations for anti-Smuggling campaign in Katdina State.

The Kanwan Katsina Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara made the call during a custom community consultative forum organized at the command headquarters in Katsina.

The forum was organized to rub minds between the Nigeria Custom service Katsina State Command and the host communities.

Alhaji Usma Bello Kankara who is the District head of Ketare in Katsina State said through radio programs the command can enlighten the border communities, importers, exporters and other businessmen on the their regulations.

He described radio as a tool of communication with a wider coverage and has cut across social boundaries through all the nocks and crannies of the state.

The Kanwan Katsina, a retired comptroller of customs called on importers, exporters and other businessmen to always contact the command before importing goods to avoid seizure and to always pay their imports duties on imported goods.

The traditional ruler noted that the revenue generated by the customs service is shared among the three tiers of government which include the Federal, state and local government in executing various developmental policies and programs for the betterment of the people.

While commending the efforts of the Katsina state command in the area of revenue generation, Alhaji Usman Bello assured to continue to offer support and advise to the command at all the times. Saying “having serve the Nigeria customs service for thirty five years and duty bound to offer useful advice to the command to enhance their operations”

During the session, questions were asked while the comptroller of the command Dalha Wada Chedi clears the air on all issues raised and promised to continue with program on quarterly basis.

The forum has in attendance the Representative of the State Governor, Emirs of Katsina and Daura, civil society organizations, Market Unions, traders, importers, exporters and customs license agents.
