Troops Shell ISWAP Terrorists on Advance to Damboa Town as Army Provides Relief to PWDs

Troops Shell ISWAP Terrorists on Advance to Damboa Town as Army Provides Relief to PWDs

After receiving intelligence on the movement of ISWAP terrorists in 10 gun trucks and one phantom MRAP, Nigerian ground troops stop their advance in Damboa with artillery gunfire.

An intelligence source told PRNigeria that after the ground troops shelled the convoy of the insurgents, jets from the Nigerian Airforce flew in to provide air cover.

“With the intense military offensive, the terrorists withdrew in disarray towards sandia village while air component of the Operation Hasin Kai scan the general area of responsibility.

The Terrorists attempted advanced into the town through Sabon Gari. They earlier had attempted to attack the town from Mandara Garau but quickly escaped after they sighted the air force jet in the air.

“They later went and regroup but were repelled again while attempting to approach a military formation. Some civilians are injured from stray bullet

“The number of casualties may not be confirmed as exploitation and clearance operations are ongoing.”

The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division of the Nigerian Army, Brig.-Gen. Abdulwahab Eyitayo said total normalcy has been restored in the town, as people were going about their normal activities, while exploitation was still ongoing by the Air Task Force to mop up the fleeing terrorists.

In another development, the Nigerian Army has provided relief materials and cash to 500 Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in Maiduguri.

Presenting the materials, Lt.-Col. Agbo Solomon, Commander, 195 Battalion who represented the Acting General Officer Commanding, Brig.-Gen. Abdulwahab Eyitayo, said the gesture was in continuation of the Army’s efforts at supporting vulnerable groups.

He said that the gesture was also meant to improve the living standards of the beneficiaries.

Beneficiaries got bags of rice, gallons of groundnut oil, cartons of noodles, mosquito nets and undisclosed cash,

Solomon explained that it was part of the Army’s strategy to strengthen communities’ counter insurgency operations through the use of soft, non-kinetic approach and good community relations in defeating insurgency.

He assured that the Army would continue to build cohesive symbiotic relationship with host communities in line with the mission and vision of Operation Hadin Kai.

Responding, Modu Bukar, one of the beneficiaries, commended the Army for identifying with persons with disabilities.

Bukar prayed for more successes for the Nigerian military in the Northeast.
