Following the recent insurgent attack in Baga, Kukawa local Government Area in Borno State that displaced many residents, The National Emergency management Agency has delivered relief materials to internally displaced persons who are currently camped in Teachers Village, Maiduguri.
Presenting the items to the Borno State Committee on IDPs, the North East Zonal coordinator, Muhammad Kanar said the items were meant to alleviate the suffering of the victims and reiterated the agency’s readiness to continue providing support to the persons in distress. He sympathized with those that lost their loved ones and properties.
He said NEMA in collaboration with the Red Cross and Borno SEMA have registered about 3600 internally displaced persons from kukawa local government areas in Teacher Village Camp Maiduguri.
Receiving the relief items on behalf of the IDPs, the Executive Chairman of Kukawa Local government, Alhaji Musa Buka commended the Federal Government for the relief assistance to his people. He urged them to remain peaceful at the camp.
Items delivered include; 600 bags of Rice, 300 bags of maize, 300 bags of G/corn, 300 bags of Beans, 500 instant noodle, 200 Soap and Detergent.
Other are; Women wears 500 pieces, men wear 400 pieces, 500 Bucket, 500 Cups, 800 mattresses, 100 Vegetable oil, 1000 Nylon mats and 1000 blankets.
