Kaduna State Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero concluded his state wide campaign tour Saturday with a grand rally in Zaria, his home Local Government Area. The governor kick started his campaign in Sanga Local Government in the Southern part of the state.
The ancient city of Zaria stood still as the campaign train of the Governor arrived ahead of the April 11 Governorship and State Assembly polls.
Thousands of supporters lined the streets of the city to welcome Yero and his entourage. The famous  traditional horse riding was also part of the colourful reception ceremony accorded Yero by the people of Zaria during the campaign tour.
A visibly emotional Yero could not hold back tears as the massive crowd of supporters made it difficult for his convoy to move. It took the governor over four hours to arrive at Zaria from neighboring Sabon Local Government which normally takes 10 minutes.

Speaking to a mammoth crowd during the rally, Governor Yero said his administration succeeded in completing several projects in just two years saying “I solicit your support in the next election to enable us initiate more developmental projects in the entire state. We have worked hard to ensure peace and security in the last two years, now that we have stability, I believe it is time for us to initiate a better economic policy that will create more jobs and also enable government to carry out critical projects.”

The governor said the present administration has made progress in the completion of the Zaria Regional Water project which has reached 90% completion “we have also completed several projects in education, roads, health and we have provided skills to hundreds of youths across the State. If we are elected in April, I want to assure you that we shall complete all the ongoing projects and also initiate new ones for the benefit of the people.”

The Yero campaign team was at the Palace of the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji (Dr) Shehu Idris to seek the blessing of the royal monarch.

While on tour of Sabon Gari Local Government, the Governor promised the electorates better days ahead adding that “several projects have been completed here in Sabon Gari and we are ready to do more if given the opportunity to continue in office.”
The Governor also called on politicians to eschew desperation in the quest for power saying “we must not forget that we are only humans. God has already destined all things and it is only God that can give power to whom soever he wishes. It is unnecessary to fight over power and politics cannot worth a single drop of the blood of any citizen.”

In both Local Governments, the Governor held meetings with stakeholders including traditional leaders, religious leaders, women and youths as part of his campaign for peaceful elections. Governor Yero called on the entire people of Kaduna State to participate fully in the electoral process saying “it is our collective responsibility to vote credible leaders and people should not allow others to scare them from voting, come out and vote candidates of your choice on election day.”
With the campaign rallies in Zaria and Sabon Gari Local Governments, Governor Yero has toured the entire 23 Local Government Areas of the State in his bid to win the April 11governorship poll in the state
