The Accountant-General of the Federation, Mr. Ahmed Idris, recently was conferred with the Award of excellence as an Icon of Societal Transformer by a Non-Governmental Group known as the Northern Women Assembly.
The Award according to the women is in recognition of the successes recorded in carrying out his assignment as the Accountant-General of the Federation. According to the leader of the group Hajia Zainab T. Baba, the award is to encourage and congratulate the AGF and in her words she said “on his uncommon, level of vision, imagination, compassion and extraordinary philanthropic and altruistic endevours through the funding of women development in our region “
In his response, Mr. Idris expressed his appreciation to the Assembly for the honour done him and dedicated it to the Treasury of the Federation, saying that whatever achievements recorded under his leadership has been a collective effort of all the directors and staff of the Treasury.
Mr. Ahmed Idris said that he has been personally encouraged by the award from the group, explaining that it goes to show that people are watching and taking note of whatever people, especially in those in public offices are doing, advising public officers to use the opportunities they have to put in their best for the people.
The Accountant-General of the Federation, further counselled the young women to see themselves as future agents of development, urging them to balance their objectives to reflect on the general problems facing the society , especially the problem of the Alamajiri, and kidnapping, among others.
He promised to work with the NGO to address some of the societal ills which they set out to address.
