NMA Provides Free Medical Service to over 800 Plateau Prison Inmates
More than 800 inmates of Jos Prison benefited from free medical services offered by the Nigerian Medical Association, Plateau State chapter.
The chairman of NMA Plateau State Chapter Dr.Daniel Meshak stated that the outreach is geared towards complementing the effort of the Federal Government in ensuring that inmates get good access to comprehensive health services and also to identify other areas of health needs for proper intervention.

The one day medical programme saw inmates undergo general consultation, eye check, dental treatment and surgery on lipoma excision, herniarrophy, tooth extraction and appendicitis.
The medical team also gave a health talk on personal hygiene and distributed toiletries.
Responding on behalf of the Controller of Prisons Plateau State Command, the Deputy controller of Prisons in-charge Jos Prison, Makale Kurmi commended the plausible gesture and contributions of NMA to the Nigerian Prison Service and called on other professional bodies, NGOs, and well meaning Nigerians to emulate this good effort towards improving the general conditions of inmates in custody.
