IPPIS: AGF Ahmed Idris Resolves Police Salary Challenges

In his characteristic manner of bringing new strategies to deal with difficult challenges that tend to persist, the Accountant –General of the Federation (AGF), Mr Ahmed Idris has wadded into the challenges involved with the enrollment of the members of the Nigeria Police Force on the Integrated Personnel Payroll Information System(IPPIS) platform, by taking personal responsibility of overseeing the process of resolving all impending issues.

Mr. Ahmed Idris, took this decision recently, while receving a delegation of the Authorities of the Nigerian Police Force, led by Assistant Inspector General of Police, (AIG)  Abdul  Salami Iyaji, to deliver a letter from the Inspector General of Police and to discuss other matters of mutual interest.

The AGF described the seeming intractable issues emanating from the enrollment of the Nigeria Police on the IPPIS platform as unacceptable and which must be dispensed with without further delay.  He directed the Nigeria Police to submit all the required documents requested by the IPPIS department to his office and that he will personally supervise the process of resolving the matters immediately.

Mr. Idris also directed the IPPIS Consultant, Messers Soft Alliance to immediately deploy additional personnel to ensure that all issues are resolved within the shortest time possible.

Furthermore, Mr. Idris explained to the delegation that the complaints on shortfall in the salary payment has to do with statutory deductions on the IPPIS platform which is applicable to every employee on the platform, some of which include, the National Housing Fund(NHF), which is 2.5% of the basic salary, Employees Pension  and PAYE tax as stipulated by the Joint tax board , which nobody can do anything about.

In addition, on the issue of newly promoted police officers, the AGF directed the police to make a comprehensive list of all officers involved, indicating their IPPIS Nos. This is with the view to addressing the matter holistically to avoid any body being left out. He also urged the police authorities to endeavour to educate their men on these issues, adding that there is no going back on Mr. President’s directive to enroll the Nigeria Police force and other Security Agencies on the IPPIS platform.

Responding, the AIG, Iyaji, promised the cooperation of the Nigeria Police , saying that they will work with the Accountant- General to ensure that the Police enrollment which they described as being successful so far, but needs to  to address some observed challenges.

He assured that  the Police will continue to educate their men on those mandatory deductions  and other  benefits of the IPPIS,  which he described as a very good initiative which needs the support of all Nigerians.
