IBB Condoles Victims of Natural Disaster and Insecurity

IBB Condoles Victims of Natural Disaster and Insecurity

Concerned about the negative effect of natural disasters and insecurity on humanity, former Military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has urged government at all levels to be proactive in taking precautionary measures to protect lives and property.

General Babangida who is expressing his condolence over reported deaths from flood disasters, armed banditry and act terrorism, urged community leaders to cooperate with governments for possible solutions.

General Babangida said: “I am disturbed with the rate of casualty being reported from natural disasters and acts of banditry with require our prayers and commitment of governments to address them.

“I wish to therefore express my condolence to the government and people of Katsina, Ogun and other states on recent flood disasters that killed citizens and render many families homeless.

Ibrahim Babangida said  “I must also extends my heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Sokoto, Zamfara and Kaduna States over activities of armed bandits with attendant gruesome killings of innocent citizens in Tabani Village in Raba, Danbakko village in Talatan-Mafara and Tabanni village in  Birnin-Gwari and other places. More worrisome are reported cases of attacks on law enforcement agencies.

“Natural disasters are recurring phenomenon that no one has the ability to control but can be mitigated.

“We should nevertheless devise precautionary measures to curtail and mitigate the crises including devilish  acts of armed bandits.”
