Anambra Police Command Provides Updates on Robbery, Explosion
ST OF A MURDER SUSPECT:It would be recalled that on the 30/10/2018 at about 9:30AM, a good Samaritan in Onitsha reported at Inland town Division that a lifeless body of a tenant named Peter Osakwe aged 22 years was found hanged at the main entrance to his room located at No 27B Enweonwu Street Onitsha.
Police detectives attached to Inland town division visited the Scene, Photographed the victim and rushed him to General Hospital Onitsha were he was confirmed dead by the medical Doctor and corpse deposited at the hospital morgue for postmortem examination.
However, medical examination conducted on the deceased revealed marks of violence on the deceased’s lower arms and pubic regions, hence murder is suspected. One Suspect was arrested in connection with the Crime and Case is under investigation.
RECOVERED VEHICLE SNATCHED AT GUN POINT: On the 30/10/2018 at about 6:30PM,one Ekezie Somuto ‘m’ aged 30 years of Oganiru Estate complex Awka reported at Ogidi Police Station that his facebook friend one Sandra surname unknown of no fixed address, aged about 22 years, fair in complexion lured him to come to St Vincent Primary School Ogidi where he was allegedly robbed at gunpoint by 3 unknown Gunmen who made away with his Toyota RAV4 2011 model Jeep with Registration number Lagos KTU 311DV and other valuables,
Following the incident,Police Patrol team attached to Ogidi Division in conjunction with vigilante group quickly mobilized to the scene and pursued the suspects who later abandoned the stolen vehicle and escaped into the bush.Case under investigation and efforts are ongoing to apprehend fleeing suspects.
In a related development, Police detectives attached to Awada Division also recovered a Lexus 300 Jeep with Registration number FGG 353 GF snatched at Gunpoint from one Brendam Dike ‘m’ of Orifite Street, Awada. Efforts ongoing to apprehend the fleeing suspects.
GAS EXPLOSION: On the 30/10/2018 at about 8:28PM,there was a Gas explosion at Regime Gas Plant located along Obosi /Nkpor road Obosi in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.
Following the report, Police Patrol team attached to Obosi Division led by the DPO rushed to the scene, cordoned off the Area to protect lives and prevent looters from taking advantage of the situation.
Meanwhile,the fire was put off by well meaning individuals and prevented it from escalating.
However, five Staff of the Company who sustained various degrees of burns were rushed to Nnewi Teaching Hospital and are presently responding to treatment. Case under investigation to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident.
KEROSENE EXPLOSION; On the 30/10/ 2018 at about 10:20AM,One SGT Amanze Charles attached to Okpoko Division
reported at Awada Police Station that on the 29/10/2018 at about 8:PM, his Sister one Mrs Blessing Uzoebo residing at NO 9 Chukura Odu Street,Awada bought 1 Letre of Kerosene suspected to be adulterated from a local vendor within her neighborhood.In the process of filling her lantern with the product it exploded into a huge flame of Fire.As a result of the explosion, the said Mrs Blessing and her Eleven years old Son one Chima MRS Uzeobo suffers various degrees of burns.
Police Patrol team attached to Awada Division visited the scene and rushed casualties to Pieta Hospital ,Awada where victims are presently receiving treatment.
Meanwhile, One bedroom apartment occupied by the victims was completely razed down by the inferno. Sample of the kerosene was obtained for analysis.Suspect was arrested and Case is under investigation.
The Command implores members of the Public to be weary of whom they relate with especially facebook friends in order not to fall victims of fraudsters and Armed robbers.
