Again, Police Nab Armed Robbers, Phone Snatchers in Anambra

Again, Police Nab Armed Robbers, Phone Snatchers in Anambra

On the 17/5/2019 at about 6:30pm,there was a distress call at Ogidi Police Station that a man was abducted and taken to the bush at Ilongwodo Ogidi in Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.

Following the report, Police operatives attached to Ogidi Division and “operation Puff Adder” responded swiftly and rushed to the bush.On sighting the police the hoodlums opened fire and the Teams responded thereby forcing the miscreants to jettison their mission and scampered for safety leaving behind the victim.

Meanwhile, One Arinze Okorie ‘m’ aged 28 years of Inyienu Ogidi was arrested and two machetes recovered from him.

Preliminary investigation revealed that Suspects lured the victim One Chimieze Abordike ‘m’ aged 28years of Ogbuinike in Oyi LGA through facebook and robbed him at gun point of his money cash sum of #5000, phone and ATM card where another sum of #51,000 was withdrawn from his account while in captivity. Case under investigation and effort is ongoing to apprehend other fleeing accomplices in order to bring them to Justice.It would be recalled that similar incident took place on the 3/5/2019 where one Emerole Ikechukwu ‘m’ of irete village, Owerri was equally lured by a female facebook friend at the same town and was robbed of his money and other valuables at gunpoint using similar modus.

Consequently, On the 17/5/2019 at about 2:20pm,while on routine Stop and search Operations along Abatete road at Ogidi,Police Patrol team attached to Ogidi Division intercepted and arrested one Uche Ogbu and Chinecherem Nweke all ‘m’ and aged 19 years respectively.

Suspects specializes in snatching handbags/handsets from their victims using a motorcycle.Exhibits recovered from them include a handset they just robbed from One Nwokolo Mmesoma ‘f’, a student of Notre-Dame high School Abatete.Case under investigation after which suspects would be charged to Court for prosecution.

Finally, the Public are enjoined to be weary of strangers and dubious facebook friends in order not to fall victims of similar ugly incidents please.

In another development, on 18/5/2019 at about 11:30am, Police operatives attached to the Command Special Anti Robbery Squad (SARS) tracked and arrested in a criminal hideout at Obosi, Idemili North LGA of Anambra State one Chinedu Ani ‘m’ aged 28 years of Nkana East LGA of Enugu State.

Suspect along with other accomplices presently at large had on the 10/3/2019 at about 8:15pm attacked one DSP Tochukwu Ogalagu ‘m’ attached to 32 PMF at idodo village along Enugu /Abakaliki Expressway and collected his service Barreta pistol with breech number AO8185Z. Upon interrogation, Suspect led Operatives to Ezeama village at Nkana East LGA of Enugu State where the said Barreta pistol was recovered.Case under investigation and effort is ongoing to apprehend other fleeing accomplices in order to bring them to Justice.

Consequently, On the 17/5/2019 at about 10:50pm,following intelligence report from Owerri in Imo State that gunmen Suspected to be armed robbers attacked one Bright Okoroizu ‘m’ of No. 54 Okporo road, Rumuodara, Porthacourt Rivers State at ATM point along Portharcourt road Owerri and snatched his Navy blue MG Saloon Car model 2013 with Registration number FK 178 DU belonging to Coscharis company and headed towards Onitsha in Anambra State.

Following the distress call, Patrol teams attached to Awada Division and “operation Puff Adder” were alerted who swiftly mobilized and intercepted the car along Ezeiweka road, Onitsha.

One suspect namely Prince Ezedike ‘m’ aged 33 years of NO. 5 Market Mgbirichi owerri,Imo State was arrested and the vehicle recovered in his possession. Case under investigation and effort is ongoing to apprehend other fleeing accomplices in order to bring them to Justice.
