Armed Soldiers Invade Press Centre, Arrest Daily Trust Reporter
Armed soldiers from the 7 Division of the Nigerian Army have stormed the secretariat of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) in Borno state and arrested one of the reporters of Daily Trust, Mr. Olatunji Omirin.
The Daily Trust reports that the three soldiers, two in mufti and one in the Nigerian Army uniform armed with gun, arrested and handcuffed Omirin at 4:40pm.
The soldiers had earlier stormed the Daily Trust Regional Office twice before invading the NUJ secretariat to arrest the journalist.
It is exactly one year and 24 days after armed soldiers invaded the same Regional Office and whisked away the Bureau Chief, Uthman Abubakar, and Correspondent, Ibrahim Sawab.
However, Daily Trust has not been able to reach Omirin since he was arrested by the armed soldiers.

The report published in the Daily Trust stated that three passengers had been slaughtered and another critically injured when suspected Boko Haram insurgents attacked commuters along Maiduguri-Damaturu road on Tuesday, security source said.
The report further disclosed that the incident had occurred near Auno along the Maiduguri-Damaturu road on Tuesday evening in Konduga Local Government Area of Borno State, in which three commuters were also attacked with machetes.
Quoting a security source, the paper said that the victims’ car had developed fault and parked when the insurgents attacked ,leaving three dead and one person battling for survival.
The Maiduguri/Damaturu highway has experienced series of attacks of recent.
