COVID-19: Again Delta Grants Amnesty to 125 Prison Inmates

No fewer than 152 Awaiting trial inmates serving in three Custodial Centres of the Nigerian Correctional Service in Delta State, regains freedom during a jail delivery by the Chief Judge of Delta State, Marshall Umokoro.

Over 674 cases were reviewed in Sapele, Kwale and Agbor Correctional Centres and had 152 awaiting trial inmates released while 10 inmates were granted bail.

This level of benevolence amidst the ravaging COVID-19 pandemic has been described as the State Government’s unflinching commitment towards the decongestion of Correctional Service facilities in Delta State.

The dutiful Controller of Corrections, Ovie Friday Esezobor on behalf of the Controller General of Corrections, Ahmed Ja’afaru sincerely appreciated the State Government. He added that the release will go a long way to further decongest the various Custodial Centres and re-entrench the existence of true justice in the minds of Deltans.
