Ministry of Police Affairs Welcomes New Permanent Secretary

Sequel to the recent deployment of Permanent Secretaries to man various Ministries, Departments and Agencies by the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Muhammadu Buhari GCFR, Mr Temitope Fashedemi assumed office as the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Police Affairs (MPA) on 30th September, 2020
While addressing Directors of the Ministry, the incoming Permanent Secretary, commended Mr. President for giving him the opportunity to serve. He appreciated the Hon. Minister of Police Affairs for giving the outgoing PS, Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri the enabling environment to perform noting that there is need to always be a part of a success story which the outgoing Permanent Secretary, has achieved. He noted that there are many challenges associated with moving into a new environment however, the need to focus on the mandate helps in overcoming such challenges.
Temitope said that the security of this country, to a reasonable extent, rests seriously on the shoulders of the Ministry of Police Affairs and there is need to build a good team, work together to achieve her corporate mandate.
He advised on the need to add value to one’s environment and by so doing, one adds value to himself. He enjoined the directors to see to it that the MPA becomes a family and a formidable force.

The outgoing Permanent Secretary, Nnamdi Maurice Mbaeri in his handing over speech, said that the de-merging of the Ministry of Police Affairs from Interior is one of Mr. Presidents strategy in enhancing the effectiveness of the Nigeria Police Force.
He noted that the Ministry was re-established with little or no resources but have been able to record laudable successes through its activities and pro-activeness.

Speaking on the Ministry s achievements during his tenure, the outgoing Permanent Secretary said that the most remarkable achievement recorded by the Ministry is the establishment of the Police Trust Fund, signing of the Police Reform Bill into law, creation of five police formations in addition to the already existing 16 commands amongst others.
Mbaeri, while commending the efforts of Mr. President in ensuring that the Police affairs Ministry, which oversee the Police Force functions optimally by posted a man who he termed as being youthful, intelligent, innovative, hardworking and an IT guru to take over from him.
Admonishing the incoming Permanent Secretary, Temitope Fashedemi and the Directors present at the event,, Dr. Mbaeri said he had good working relationship with the Hon. Minister, who is more like a father to him. He said Directors and the entire staff of MPA helped him in the successes the Ministry recorded within his short stay.
In his vote of thanks, the Director , Legal Services, Bolarinde Omoluabi, thanked the outgoing Permanent Secretary, Dr. Maurice Nnamdi Mbaeri, for his selfless service, adding that he ran his office with “Open door”, making sure all staff of MPA was carried along.
Bolarinde expressed his believe that the new Permanent Secretary, Temitope Fashedemi will follow the steps of his predecessor and even do better. He promised on behalf of all the Directors to work harmoniously with the new PS in achieving the great mandate of the Ministry.
