Police Reports on Tanker Explosion in Anambra, Death of Bandit in Katsina

TANKER EXPLOSION CLAIMS THE LIFE OF A WELDER AT TOLL GATE MECHANIC WORKSHOP OGBUNIKE

On the 28/11/2020 at about 2:30pm,there was a heavy explosion at a mechanic workshop,new road toll gate,Ogbunike.The incident took place when a welder named Richard ‘m’ surname yet unknown was on top of an empty Fuel Mack Truck with REG number XA-740-CAL trying to weld the upper compartment.All of a sudden the tanker exploded and threw away the welder two hundred metres away from the truck leaving him unconscious.

Scene was visited by Police operatives attached to Ogbunike Division and the victim was rushed to Iyienu Hospital for treatment where he was confirmed dead by a medical Doctor.

Meanwhile,corpse was photographed and deposited at the hospital mortuary for preservation while investigation is ongoing to ascertain circumstances surrounding the incident please.

On 27/11/2020 at about 01:30hrs, armed robbers numbering three (3) attacked the house of one Alhaji Hari Bello with dangerous weapons and as a result of which they injured two of his children. The victims raised alarm which attracted the neighbors and the police. Consequently, the hoodlums were chased and pursued as a result of which one of the robbers was apprehended and seriously beaten by the angry crowd. The police evacuated both the injured hoodlum and the victims to Malumfashi General hospital for treatment. Victims were treated and discharged while the robber died on admission. Investigation is ongoing with a view to arrest other members of his syndicate.

FOILED ARMED ROBBERY/CATTLE RUSTLING AND RECOVERY OF ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY (120) RUSTLED COWS:. On 28/11/2020 at about 01:00hrs, bandits numbering fifteen (15), on motorbikes, shooting sporadically with AK 47 rifles, attacked Fararu Hamlet, Birchi Ward, Kurfi LGA of Katsina state and rustled one hundred and twenty cows. On receipt of the report, DPO Kurfi Division led ‘Operation Puff Adder’ and laid seige in a possible escape route of the bandits at Tashan Bara’u village – cattle route. Fortunately, the bandits followed through the route and the police team engaged into a gun duel. Consequently, they dislodged the bandits and recovered all the rustled cows. Search parties are currently combing the area with a view of arresting and/or recovery of dead bodies of the injured bandits. Investigation is ongoing.
