AfCFTA : Arahah Market Set for Global Competition
The FCT Arahah Farmers’ Market has been established in readiness to compete with other 55 AU member states, as African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) is set to begin on the 1st of January, 2021.
The Convener of Women Arise Development and Humanitarian Initiative, Mrs Esther Eghobamien-Mshelia made the disclosure on Monday in Abuja.
The AfCFTA is expected to enhance competitiveness at the industry and enterprise level through exploitation of opportunities for scale production, continental market access and better reallocation of resources.

By next year January, the AfCFTA will bring together all 55 member states of the African Union covering a market of more than 1.2 billion people, including a growing middle class, and a combined gross domestic product (GDP) of more than US$3.4 trillion.
Eghobamien-Mshelia said Arahah Farmers’ Market was mulled to make good, quality and indigenous materials available directly from the producers; either farmers, micro or small enterprises to the general public.
“The idea is to create better market for the locally produced goods, so as to meet the standard, the need of consumers and compete at the global level,” she added.
The Arahah Farmers Market is an initiative of Women Arise Development Humanitarian Initiative (WADHI) in Partnership with Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI).
