Imo CJ Releases 32 Prison inmates
The Imo State Ag Chief Judge, Justice Ijeoma Agugua has realesed 9 inmates and granted bail to 23 others.
This was during a goal delivery exercise conducted at the Owerri Custodial Centre. Some of those released had spent over the maximum sentence if they had been convicted.
The Ag Chief Judge admonished the magistrates to expedite action in handling cases to reduce congestion in our Custodial facilities. Earlier,the Controller of Corrections Imo State Kingsley Njoku thanked the Ag Chief Judge for fulfilling her promise of visiting the facility before Christmas. In his speech, the Officer In charge of the Centre DCC Seye Oduntan Olukoya expressed gratitude to the Ag Chief Judge for coming and requested that the visit is continuous as a way of decongesting the Centre.
