Borno Police Parade Armed Robbers, Drug Dealers

In a bid to rid the State of crimes and criminality; especially, the emerging trends whereby armed hoodlums would attack and dispossess POS operators of huge sums of monies; and some trailing and robbing customers leaving the bank, the Borno State Police Command moved swiftly to curb the menace and the efforts paid off leading to the arrest of the criminals as indicated below:
1) ARREST OF ARMED ROBBERS ROBBING POS OPERATORS: On 29/04/2021 at about 2100hrs, the Command received a report through G.R.A Division that, at about 20:45hrs, some hoodlums operating in a black Golf vehicle attacked and robbed a POS operator at Circular road, Polo Area of Maiduguri of the sum of Two Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N2, 500, 000.00). On the receipt of the report, the Command launched a man hunt for the criminals and consequently, one Akachukwu Emmanuel was arrested at Lamisula Police Division. His confession led to the arrest of one of his accomplices, a certain Isa Goni at Kano Municipality. Other accomplices who are at large are still being trailed by operatives of the Command.

EXHIBITS RECOVERED ARE:
1. One Black Golf Saloon vehicle; Reg. No. ASU 230 MU
2. Two POS Machines and other accessories

2.) ARREST OF CRIMINAL SYNDICATE THAT SPECIALIZES IN TRAILING AND STEALING FROM BANK CUSTOMERS.
Between 15/5/2021 and 28/5/2021, Operatives of the command, in an intelligence-driven operation, arrested the following persons 1.)Mallam Hamisu 2.)Alh. Umar Samalia alias Dan Babur 3.)Alhaji Habibu Garba alias Senator 4.) Alh. Ali Yahaya and 5.)Mari Paul; all suspects who specialize in trailing unsuspecting citizens – especially those just coming out from banks – break into their cars and steal monies kept therein.

The suspects were trailed and arrested by Crack Operatives at different cities namely; Maiduguri, Jos, Kano and Jalingo in Taraba State.

Suspects, on interrogation confessed to stealing Twenty Three Million Naira (N23, 000, 000.00) from a vehicle parked inside Musa Usman Secretariat and another Two Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N2, 500, 000.00) from a vehicle belonging to one Aliyu Ali at a Mosque here in Maiduguri. They equally confessed to carrying out these dastardly acts in Kano, Abuja, Sokoto, Zamfara, Jigawa, Jos, Yola, Damaturu and Jalingo.
Exhibits Recovered Are:
֎ Five assorted motor vehicles
֎ Six fabricated duplicate car keys
֎ Corrosive substances used in breaking vehicle glasses/windscreen
֎ Fourteen Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (₦14, 500, 000.00)

3.) ARREST OF SUSPECTED DRUG DEALERS: On 23/06/2021 at about 2230hrs, following a tip-off, two suspects namely: Mallam Mati and Abba Ibrahim were arrested at Jajeri ward, Maiduguri while in possession of about One Thousand and five kilograms (1005kg) of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa with an estimated worth of Three Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira (N3, 500, 000.00).

Exhibit Recovered: 1005kg of dried leaves suspected to be Cannabis Sativa.
All suspects will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigations.
