PHOTOS: Matawalle, Yari, Marafa of Zamfara Hold Secret Meetings in Kaduna over APC Crisis
In a strange move, Governor Bello Mohammad Matawalle of Zamfara State has paid a surprise visits to former governor Abdulazeez Yari Abubakar and Senator Kabiru Garba Marafa all in Kaduna State on Saturday.
While the three political gladiators under the All-Progressives Congress (APC) held the secret meetings at different times, some politicians are claiming that Governor Matawalle paid the visits to seek soft-landing over recent contentious issues affecting the party in the state.
Senator Mafara, an ally to a former governor Abdulazeez Yari Abubakar had earlier rejected the naming of Matawalle as the leader of APC in the state.
He also described the crisis in the APC in the state as self-inflicted, stressing that the naming of Matawalle as the leader of the party in the state by the leadership of the APC is not in the party’s constitution.
He said his group will also challenge the legality of Governor Buni’s chairmanship of the APC.

Recently too a Federal High Court in Abuja restrained the party in the state from conducting its ward congress which has drawn many reactions.
The court order helped in preventing a political crisis that would have occurred during the congress.
Since Matawalle defected to the APC, there have been cracks on the wall of the party in the state as Yari and Marafa are leading a formidable faction of the party while Governor Matawalle has his own faction.
The two factions are at war over who controls the soul of the party in the state.
According to various sources, Yari never accepted Matawalle as the leader of the party even though the national headquarters of the party had handed over the party’s flag to the Governor.
The former Governor explained that the dissolution of the leadership of the party in the state was illegal, stressing that he recognizes the leadership of the party in the state led by Ambassador Lawali Liman Kaura and not the one constituted by the national headquarters of the party.
Another source told Politics Digest that after the defection of Gov Matawalle there were attempts to silence and dump chieftains of APC in the state including Yari, Marafa, Dr. Dauda Lawal Dare, Alhaji Sagir Hamida, Engineer Ibrahim Shehu Baƙauye and other Like minds.
Meanwhile, Senator Marafa was reported to have instituted legal action against the irregularities in the political scheme by the headquarters of the party in Abuja.
