Katsina Police Nab Bandits, Informants… Rescue Victims

On the 20/9/2021 at about 1700hrs, the Command succeeded in arresting one (1) Ibrahim Sama’ila alias yellow, ‘m’, aged 30 years of Sabon Garin Faguwa, Dutsinma LGA, now residing in the forest, a notorious bandit commander under the command of Sani Muhidinge, a notorious bandits’ leader who has been on the wanted list of the police and and (2) Basiru Mu’azu, ‘m’, aged 22 years old of MaiGezoji, Tashar Mai Alewa, Danmusa LGA, another notorious bandit.

2. The fact of the case was that, on 15/9/2021 at about 1700hrs, bandits in their numbers, on foot, shooting sporadically with AK 47 riflles, attacked kitibawa village in Dutsinma LGA, killed two (2) villagers, set some shops ablazed and kidnapped eighteen (18) women with their seven (7) babies. On receipt of the report, Area Commander Dutsinma, ACP Aminu Umar led a team of Policemen to the area, blocked the bandits and engaged them in a gun duel.

3. The doggedness, uncommon courage and tactical operational strategy adopted by the police officers made the bandits to flee into the forest with varying degree of bullets wounds. In the course of profiling the scene two (2) women were rescued and sixty (60) sheeps, thirty four (34) cows and 1 donkey were recovered.

3. In the course of investigation and based on credible intelligence, on the 20/9/2021 at about 1700hrs, the Command also succeeded in arresting the duo of one Yaquba Abubakar, ‘m’, aged 45 years of Tashar Mai-Alewa, Danmusa LGA, an informer and supplier of necessities to bandits and (2) Murtala Umar, ‘m’, aged 34 years, of the same address, a health worker that specializes in giving medical treatment to bandits. The suspects confessed to the commission of the offense. Investigation is ongoing.
