Buhari mourns Democrat newspaper’s ex-editor, Abdulhameed Babatunde
President Muhammadu Buhari had on Thursday, expressed heartfelt condolences over the death of famous journalist and writer, Abdulhamid Babatunde, who served as editor of several newspaper titles including the defunct, Kaduna-based Democrat.
Buhari’s condolence message is contained in a statement signed by his Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, titled ‘President Buhari mourns Abdulhamid Babatunde, distinguished writer, journalist.’

The President said, “Abdulhamid Babatunde was a distinguished writer and journalist. He contributed extensively to our elections in 2015 and 2019.
“He worked to strengthen the journalism profession as an eminent writer and unionist. Always full of energy and ideas, passionate about Nigeria’s development, he will be missed by so many people.”
The President further described Babatunde’s demise a “huge void in the media” praying Allah to repose his soul and grant fortitude to his family and friends to bear the loss.
