FG Considers Adopting Kano Digital Security Measures For Rail Tracks Protection

Federal government says it is considering adopting Kano digital security measure to protect rail lines.

The minister of transportation, Mu’azu Jaji Sambo, disclosed this while addressing newsmen at the presidential villa, in Abuja.

Muazu Sambo, who was speaking on security measures been put in place to ensure safety of train passengers, stressed that it would be insensitive for the government to restart the train service while many Nigerians were still traumatised over their loved ones who are still being held captives by terrorists from an attack that occurred on the train service.

He said the digital security at falgore forest in Kano is being evaluated among other security measures by the federal government to protect the rail tracks

It was gathered that the Kano digital security measures at the Falgore forest has formed part of the nucleus of ensuring safety which guarantees security in the state compared to other north-western states.

“There is a system of security that Kano state government employed in the ‘Falgore’ forest sanctioned by the DDS. We are looking at that. We are also mindful of the cost,’’ Mu’azu said.

‘’Due to the cost of proving security, we are also thinking of public private partnership.’’

“We are looking at the solution that is technology base, as you will all know technology changes every day.’’

Commenting on the development a security expert, Shehu Nagari urged the federal government not to compromise cost while developing security measures.

Nagari noted that the Public Private partnership (PPP) proposal to address the rail line security challenges is not advisable anywhere in the world.

He lauded the digital security program of Kano State that in no small feat is supporting the state security structure.

‘’Honestly, I can’t understand why the federal government is foot dragging and not understudy why Kano is that safe and the things put in place assisting them,‘’ Nagari said.
