ASA22: 30 Under 30 Arewa Stars Award Announces Panel of Judges to Screen Entries

ASA22: 30 Under 30 Arewa Stars Award Announces Panel of Judges to Screen Entries

Arewa Agenda, PRNigeria and DAILY NIGERIAN have introduced the panel of judges for the 2022 maiden Arewa Stars Award and Conference (ASA222).

In a statement, it said the independent judging panel would be chaired by Dr Kabiru Sa’idu Sufi, a seasoned academic serving as a senior (fellow) lecturer at Kano College of Education and Preliminary Studies, Skyline University Nigeria and other universities. Sufi is also a notable entrepreneur of repute and a political analyst.

Other judges include Barrister Abba Hikima, a renowned Kano-based legal practitioner and human rights defender; Aisha Lawal, a broadcaster and producer at Arewa24 – a Nigerian satellite television channel available on DSTV, GOtv, and Startimes that showcases the lifestyle of the Northern Region and Kabiru Saidu Dakata, a civil society actor and Executive Director of the Centre for Awareness on Justice and Accountability (CAJA).

Other Judges include Mahmud Ibrahim Kwari, a journalist with the Voice of America (VOA) Hausa service; Barrister Nura Ahmad, a lawyer and founder of Mufarka Youth Development Initiative and Nasiru Salisu Zango, a radio investigative journalist with a privately owned station Freedom Radio and Hausa correspondent for the German broadcaster Deutsche Welle.

The panel of judges will select three finalists each under the age of 30 for 30 groundbreaking categories in various fields of human endeavours which include Media, Education, Politics, Social Media Influencer, Fashion and Design, and Entertainment (Musician, Filmmaking, Videography).

Other categories include Fintech, Legal-Law, Event Manager, Innovation, Entrepreneurship, Medicine (Public Health), Banker, Agriculture, Interior decoration, Hotelier, Sports, Accountant, and Architecture.

Others are Engineering, Acting, Actress, Art/painting, Humanitarian/philanthropy, Makeup/beauty, Hand Craft (shoemaking- dye-ing-bag making), Photography, Social activism/work, ICT, and Real Estate.

The convener of Arewa Agenda, Mohammed Dahiru Lawa noted that the revolutionary initiative and masterpiece in the history of the north is instituted “to celebrate courageous young leaders who have shown considerable commitment to inspiring and empowering others through their work.”

The grand event will feature the 30 under 30 Awards, Panel Discussions, Disruptive Tech Exhibit, Honorary Awards for Mentorship Philantrophy and Humanitarian Services, Organisational recognitions, Entertainment, Dinner Night and a Grand Book Launch of the translated version of 101 fake news on EndSARS.
