The Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Tajudeen Kayode Ariwoola, on Friday, performed the Juma’at prayer in Abuja, PRNigeria reports.

This is contrary to reports that the CJN held nocturnal meetings with the President-Elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in the United Kingdom, yesterday.

A source confirmed to PRNigeria that Justice Ariwoola indeed observed today’s Friday Jumuat congregational prayers at a Central Mosque, together with other Muslim faithful.

Recalled that the office of the CJN, earlier also debunked the speculations of Ariwoola’s trip to London to meet with Tinubu.

Meanwhile, a source at the apex court told PRNigeria that CJN presided over meetings of the National Judicial Council (NJC) held on 16 and 17 March, 2023, where a statement was issued suspending the Chief Judge of Taraba State, Philibus Andetur, from office on account of misconduct.

“The CJN later travelled to London on 18 March for medical care after notifying President Muhammadu Buhari of the trip.

“He returned to Nigeria on 23 March and reported in the office the following day which Friday,” said the source.

The source added that the only time the CJN travelled earlier this year was on 25 January, when he travelled for Lesser Hajj in Saudi Arabia. He returned on 29 January 2023.
