Before the Farewell to Our President By Haruspice
When Buhari in 2015 said he will build us a refinery you scorned at him, yesterday , he stood in honour and testimony to commission the first largest private refinery in Africa. You may argue that he didn’t build it, yes, but he provided the enabling impetus for this. Governance has shifted from public infrastructure to PPP.
When he said he would connect Nigeria with rail transport, you laughed at him. After 40 years, rail transportation returned to Nigeria.
The second Nigeria Bridge was a piece of political propaganda until Buhari made it happen in reality.
The roads from Abuja through Kaduna to Kano down to Keffi through lafia to Makurdi were given new life courtesy a Buhari’s vision.

I am not here to argue with you but to tell you that, no matter your resentment and otherwise, Buhari has redefined our infrastructural architecture and posterity will stand in testimony of the man who came, met an empty treasury, faced the worst global recession, invaded by COVID-19 pandemic, faced grave insecurity quagmire yet didn’t run the country amok.
Dear President Muhammadu Buhari,
Take your salute, you came, did your best, made some mistakes and now leaving the stage. You are human, therefore, like every human, perfection is not guaranteed. This is your best, the same way, it is the worst in the eyes of others. Again, this is life, we all see things from different perspectives.
As you sign out, I wish you the best of retirement time, have it that, people like us sacrificed a lot, got battered, psychologically killed, physically beaten and our characters mutilated because we chose to stand by your aspirations. We have no regrets whatsoever. If the opportunity to stand in stoic defence of you comes again, we shall be battle ready.
Farewell Mr President,
Farewell Dogo dan Daura,
Farewell Mai gaskiya.
Oya take your salute…
