CDS Musa Advocates Collaboration, Synergy in Joint Task Force Operations
The Chief of Defence Staff, Major General Christopher Musa, has emphasized the importance of collaboration and synergy among the various branches of the armed forces in joint task force operations.
He made the call in a keynote address at the Joint Task Force Commanders Conference today in Abuja, Title: “Rejigging Defence Headquarters led Operations”
General Musa said the security landscape is constantly evolving, and it has become imperative for the armed forces to adapt their strategies and tactics to effectively counter emerging threats.
He called on the joint task force commanders to foster a spirit of jointness and capitalize on their collective strengths and capabilities to safeguard the nation.
The Chief of Defence Staff also emphasized the importance of intelligence sharing and cooperation in effectively addressing complex security challenges.

He said that the exchange of timely and accurate information is the lifeblood of successful operations. He called on the commanders to break down silos and foster a culture of information sharing to enhance situational awareness, improve decision-making processes, and promote seamless coordination among their forces.
According to him, “We recognized the significance of capacity building and training in maintaining operational readiness. He said that it is incumbent upon the commanders to ensure that their personnel are equipped with the necessary skills, knowledge, and resources to carry out their duties effectively”, he said.
He called for continuous professional development, realistic and rigorous training exercises, and the cultivation of a learning culture.
Musa stressed the need to engage with the communities that the armed forces serve. He said that the success of their operations depends not only on their military prowess but also on the trust and support of the local populace.
He called on the commanders to strive to build strong relationships with the communities in which they operate, listening to their concerns, addressing their grievances, and providing them with the security and stability they deserve.
