    Media Group Felicitates Shekarau for Emerging as Chairman League of Northern Democrats

    The Progressive Northern Media Professionals has congratulated the former governor of Kano State, Mallam Ibrahim Shekarau, on his emergence as the substantive chairman of the League of Northern Democrats.

    In a statement signed by its interim president, Mallam Mahmood Muhammad, and made available to newsmen in Kano yesterday, the media body described Mallam Shekarau as a frontline and forthright politician, who is so passionate about the downtrodden.

    The statement further noted that the media group is not surprised by the emergence of the former Kano State governor as leader of the newly formed political body to chart a new course for the North, considering his pedigree, and his unwavering commitment to protect the overall interest of the region.

    It therefore stressed the need for Mallam Shekarau and the newly formed League of Northern Democrats to work relentlessly in uniting the various leaders in the region, with a view to enhancing the progress of the area.

    According to the statement, there is need for unity and collectivity in ensuring the development of the region, adding that without working together, the overall interest of the region cannot be effectively protected.

    While maintaining that the task before the Shekarau led political group is an undaunting one, the media group further called on the leaders in the region to fully support the newly formed association with a view to moving the area forward.
