    Youths Digest Announces Call for Entries for 6th Campus Journalism Award

     

    Youths Digest is excited to announce the call for submissions for the 6th edition of the Campus Journalism Awards (CJA), a platform that continues to recognize and celebrate the exceptional work of student journalists across Nigeria.

    This year’s edition comes with the theme “Thriving in the 21st Century Media Landscape”, reflecting the evolving role of young journalists in an ever-changing media environment.

    In a statement released on Sunday, Gidado Shuaib, the convener of the awards and publisher of the News Digest, confirmed that the 2024 edition will honor 26 finalists across 13 categories.

    “The Campus Journalism Awards have become a key platform for spotlighting young, talented voices in the media. This year, we focus on how student journalists are adapting and thriving in the fast-paced 21st century media landscape,” Shuaib said.

    The 13 categories for this edition include: Entertainment Writer, Sports Writer, Reporter, Gender Equality Reporter, Broadcaster, Photo-journalist, as well as Penclub, Author (Book), Social Media Influencer, Investigative Journalist, Features Writer, Editor, Print Magazine, and Syndicated Writer.

    Entries are open until Monday, October 14th, 2024, with the grand award ceremony scheduled for Saturday, December 7th, 2024 in Abuja.

    Mr. Shuaib also revealed that the panel of judges, as in previous years, will be made up of renowned media professionals, journalism scholars, and celebrated writers, ensuring the selection process remains rigorous and transparent.

    To participate, visit Youths Digest Campus Journalism Awards 2024 starting from 12:00 AM on Tuesday, October 1st, 2024. Applicants are required to provide the following information: Full Name, Course of Study, Institution, Award Category, Date of Entry, Entry Link/Material, and a Summary of the Entry. For works published in print or broadcast, please send them to [email protected] along with the other required details.

    Since its inception in 2018, the Campus Journalism Awards have grown into a prestigious event, with past ceremonies hosted at iconic venues such as the Roses Regency Hotel, Nicon Luxury Hotel, and Hotel 2020 in Wuye.

    This 6th edition, supported by the Civil Society Legislative Advocacy Centre (CISLAC)/TI Nigeria, promises to be a landmark event in the campus journalism scene, embodying the spirit of young journalists who are “Thriving in the 21st Century Media Landscape.”
