NELFUND Warns Students Against Fake Loan Application Portal

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has issued a warning to students and the general public regarding a fake online portal being circulated with fraudulent claims about the reopening of its student loan application platform.

In an official statement released on Monday in Abuja, the Director of Strategic Communications at NELFUND, Mrs. Oseyemi Oluwatuyi, discredited the misleading messages making the rounds on social media and various online platforms.

“The attention of NELFUND has been drawn to a fraudulent message currently circulating online, falsely claiming that President Bola Tinubu has ordered the reopening of the NELFUND Student Loan portal,” she stated.

Oluwatuyi pointed out that the deceptive message directs unsuspecting individuals to a fake website:

“We wish to categorically state that this website is FAKE, and the information it carries is completely false and misleading,” she emphasized.

She reiterated that the only official and authentic portal for student loan applications remains: https://nelf.gov.ng

Oluwatuyi urged students, parents, guardians, and the public at large to exercise caution, avoid clicking on suspicious links, and never share personal or financial details on unverified websites.

She reaffirmed NELFUND’s commitment to ensuring transparency, safety, and fairness in the loan application process, stressing that all official announcements will only be made through the Fund’s verified communication channels.

The public is encouraged to report any suspicious websites or messages directly to NELFUND via email at [email protected].

For further updates or inquiries, students are advised to engage with NELFUND through its official social media handles: X (formerly Twitter): @nelfund; Instagram: @nelfund; Facebook & LinkedIn: Nigerian Education Loan Fund – NELFUND
