Troops Clear Boko Haram/ISWAP Camps, Arrest Key Informants in North East

The Nigerian military has intensified its counter-terrorism operations in the North East, clearing multiple Boko Haram and ISWAP hideouts, arresting informants and logistics suppliers, while rescuing kidnapped victims across several local government areas in Borno and Adamawa States.

Major General Michael Onoja, Director Defence Media Operations, disclosed this during the Defence Headquarters’ press briefing in Abuja, covering operational activities between November 27 and December 3, 2025.

According to him, troops under the Joint Task Force North East (Operation HADIN KAI), backed by the Air Component and hybrid forces, executed aggressive clearance operations aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, disrupting their supply chains, and restoring stability in affected communities.

“Ground forces, in collaboration with the Air Component and local security groups, maintained operational momentum and denied ISWAP/Boko Haram terrorists freedom of action. Scores of terrorists were neutralised, while several of their collaborators, informants, sympathisers and logistics suppliers were arrested,” Onyema stated.

He noted that operations during the period covered Mafa, Ngala, Ngazai, Konduga, Bama, Askira Uba and Chibok local government areas of Borno State, as well as Madagali and Song in Adamawa State, resulting in the destruction of terrorist camps and safe corridors for displaced persons returning home.

He confirmed that weapons, vehicles, motorcycles and explosive materials were recovered, while the rescued kidnapped victims have been safely handed over to authorities for profiling and reunion with their families.

On November 26, the Air Component delivered several close air support missions in Dikwa, New Marte and Gajibo areas of Borno, targeting terrorists’ enclaves and boosting the confidence of ground troops.

Major General Onoja said the renewed pressure on terrorist cells reflects the Armed Forces’ commitment to ensuring peace in the region.

“The Armed Forces of Nigeria is committed to dismantling all terrorist bases and restoring full security to the North East,” he said.

He appealed for continued public cooperation through timely intelligence sharing, assuring that military operations will adhere strictly to the law and human rights standards.
