
Egypt Pledges Training, Equipment Support for MNJTF Operations
As terror continues to stalk communities around the Lake Chad Basin, Egypt has stepped in to bolster the Multinational Joint Task Force (MNJTF) with training, equipment, and operational support.
The move came during a visit to MNJTF Headquarters by Egypt’s Ambassador to Chad, Tarek Youssef, and the Defence Attaché to Chad and Sudan, Staff Colonel Ahmed Gamal El-Barbary.
A statement signed by Iweha Ikedichi Lieutenant Colonel, Iweha Ikedichi, Acting Chief Military Public Information Officer, MNJTF on Wednesday.
They described the MNJTF as a “model regional force” and urged stronger backing for its operations across the troubled region.

Ambassador Youssef sought clarity on how troops from member states are commanded. Colonel El-Barbary went further, pledging Egypt’s support in training soldiers, providing equipment, and sharing operational expertise.
He said Egypt’s long-standing ties with Lake Chad Basin Commission countries could also be leveraged to strengthen the force.
Force Commander Major General Saidu Tanko Audu of the MNJTF described the visit as “timely and strategic,” highlighting the force’s success in dismantling Boko Haram cells and helping displaced persons and refugees return to their communities.
Major General Audu also stressed the importance of tapping into Egypt’s expertise in intelligence gathering, counter-IED operations, and drone-jamming technology to sustain the gains already achieved in the region.
PRNigeria reports that the visit reflects a renewed commitment by international partners to support the MNJTF’s ongoing counterterrorism operations.
