2026 Civil Service Conference Begins in Abuja Wednesday
Nigeria will on Wednesday host the 2026 International Civil Service Conference (ICSC) in Abuja, bringing together public service leaders, governance experts, reform advocates, and development partners from across the world to discuss strategies for strengthening public institutions and improving service delivery.
The two-day conference, scheduled for May 20 and 21, is being organised by the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation under the theme, “Reforms, Resilience and Results.”
According to a statement issued on Saturday by the Director of Press and Public Relations in the Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Eno Olotu, the conference is expected to serve as a global platform for dialogue, knowledge sharing, and collaboration on the future of public administration.
The statement noted that President Bola Tinubu is expected to formally declare the conference open, underscoring what the government described as its commitment to civil service transformation, institutional excellence, and results-driven governance.
The conference, now in its second edition, is expected to attract senior government officials, heads of civil service institutions, policy experts, development partners, reform practitioners, and representatives of international organisations from several countries.
Expected participants include delegates from the United States, the United Kingdom, Singapore, Switzerland, Ghana, The Gambia, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Algeria, Sudan, and Indonesia.

The Office of the Head of Service said the conference would feature high-level plenary sessions, technical roundtables, fireside conversations, and interactive engagements aimed at generating practical solutions for modernising public service systems.
According to the organisers, discussions will focus on key issues such as institutional reforms, digital transformation, leadership, workforce development, performance management, innovation, accountability, and improved service delivery.
The event will also feature exhibition booths showcasing innovative governance solutions, digital transformation initiatives, institutional best practices, and service offerings from participating organisations and agencies.
Speaking ahead of the conference, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Didi Esther Walson-Jack, described the gathering as a timely platform for sustaining reform momentum and building a public service that is “agile, accountable, innovative and citizen-centred.”
She said the conference would highlight practical reforms and transformative strategies that have strengthened resilience in public institutions while delivering measurable outcomes in governance and service delivery.
Walson-Jack also expressed appreciation to sponsors, development partners, and supporting organisations for their contributions toward the successful hosting of the conference and broader efforts at public service transformation.
The Office of the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation reaffirmed its commitment to hosting what it described as a world-class conference that would deepen reform conversations, strengthen international partnerships, and promote resilient and results-oriented public service delivery.
