APC Reschedules Bauchi, Kwara Governorship Primaries, Zamfara Assembly Polls By Kabir Akintayo
The ruling All Progressives Congress has announced the rescheduling of its governorship primary elections in Bauchi and Kwara states, barely days after controversies and logistical concerns trailed the party’s ongoing 2026 primary exercise across parts of the country.
In a statement issued on Thursday in Abuja by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, the APC said the governorship primaries in Bauchi State and Kwara State would now hold on Friday, May 22, 2026.
The party also approved the rescheduling of the State House of Assembly primary elections for Maradun I and Maradun II constituencies in Zamfara State to Sunday, May 24, 2026.

According to the statement, the decision was endorsed by the National Working Committee following consultations with stakeholders.
“The decision was approved by the National Working Committee (NWC) following consultations with relevant stakeholders and in furtherance of the Party’s commitment to ensuring transparent, orderly, peaceful, and credible primary election process,” the statement read.
The latest announcement comes after the APC in Kwara had earlier disclosed a shift in its governorship primary timetable amid reports of internal consultations and preparations for the exercise.
The party, however, did not provide specific reasons for the fresh postponements in Bauchi and Zamfara.
The APC has in recent days witnessed a wave of controversies surrounding its primary elections in several states, with some aspirants alleging irregularities, imposition, and procedural breaches.
The rescheduled exercises are expected to determine the party’s candidates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
