Kanwan Katsina Advocates Stronger Media–Security Collaboration During NUJ Visit to Customs
The Kanwan Katsina III and District Head of Ketare, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara, mni, has called for stronger collaboration between the media and security agencies to enhance national development and strengthen border security across the country.
Alhaji Kankara made the call when he led the newly elected officials of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Katsina State Council, on a courtesy visit to the Katsina State Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
The traditional ruler, who is a retired Comptroller of Customs and Patron of the NUJ, accompanied the new NUJ Executive Council led by its Chairman, Comrade Aminu Dandagoro, to formally introduce the leadership to the Customs command.
According to him, closer cooperation between the media, the Nigeria Customs Service and other security agencies would significantly contribute to national growth, effective information management and improved security operations, particularly in border communities.
He stressed the importance of responsible journalism and regular engagement between journalists and security institutions in addressing emerging security challenges facing the country.

Alhaji Kankara also congratulated the Katsina State Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Mohammed Sai’idu Musa, on his recent promotion and posting to the command, describing the appointment as well-deserved.
The monarch urged the Customs boss to intensify anti-smuggling operations and ensure maximum revenue generation for the Federal Government.
In his remarks, NUJ Chairman, Comrade Aminu Dandagoro, aligned himself with the position of the union’s patron, assuring the Customs command of the NUJ’s commitment to responsible journalism, professionalism and accurate reportage.
He noted that the union would continue to support initiatives aimed at promoting peace, security and development in Katsina State through balanced and factual reporting.
Responding, the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Mohammed Sai’idu Musa, welcomed the delegation and assured them of the command’s readiness to maintain a cordial working relationship with the media.
He promised to sustain an open-door policy that would encourage transparency, public engagement and effective service delivery within the command.
The Comptroller also expressed delight at receiving his former superior officer, Alhaji Usman Bello Kankara, among the delegation and appreciated his words of advice and encouragement.
