We’ll Not Relent Until Nigerians Live in Safety — Tinubu
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday assured Nigerians that his administration would not relent in confronting insecurity until citizens can “live, work, travel, and dream in safety.”
Tinubu gave the assurance in a nationwide address to commemorate the third anniversary of his administration, acknowledging that although security challenges persist in parts of the country, progress is being made through intensified military operations and strategic investments in national security.
The President said his government had continued to strengthen the operational capabilities of the Armed Forces and other security agencies to tackle terrorism, banditry, kidnapping, oil theft, and other criminal activities threatening national peace and stability.
“Security remains central to our national mission and to the creation of a virile and prosperous society,” Tinubu said.
“Our Armed Forces and security agencies have intensified operations against terrorists, bandits, kidnappers, oil thieves, and criminal networks. While challenges remain, many communities and highways are becoming safer and more economically active.”
Tinubu disclosed that his administration had increased investment in intelligence gathering, surveillance systems, logistics, military technology, and inter-agency collaboration to improve operational effectiveness and reclaim territories threatened by criminal elements.

“We continue investing in intelligence, surveillance, logistics, technology, and inter-agency coordination. We are improving the capabilities of our armed forces and security agencies and reclaiming the authority of the Nigerian state wherever criminality threatens peace and order,” he stated.
The President stressed that despite the progress recorded, his administration remained determined to sustain the momentum against insecurity across the country.
“While we continue to confront the challenges head-on, progress is being made. I want to assure you that this government will not relent until every Nigerian can live, work, travel, and dream in safety,” he said.
Tinubu also linked national security to economic prosperity, arguing that peace and stability remain critical to achieving growth, attracting investment, and improving citizens’ welfare.
He noted that ongoing infrastructure projects, agricultural reforms, power sector interventions, and digital economy investments could only thrive in a secure environment.
The President further appealed to Nigerians to remain united and hopeful, urging citizens to reject division and support ongoing efforts aimed at rebuilding the country.
“We must choose hope over despair, unity over division, and nation-building over narrow interests,” he said.
Reflecting on the sacrifices Nigerians have endured since the introduction of key economic reforms, Tinubu maintained that difficult decisions taken by his administration were necessary to prevent economic collapse and lay the foundation for long-term recovery.
He insisted that despite current hardships, the country was gradually stabilising and moving towards sustainable growth.
“Nigeria is passing through a test, but I believe with all my heart that we shall emerge stronger, fairer, more united, and more prosperous than ever before,” the President added.
