Hadin Kai Gets New Commanders in Maiduguri, Damaturu, Monguno
The military has appointed new commanders for key sectors of the Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai in Maiduguri, Damaturu and Monguno as part of efforts to sustain momentum in ongoing counter-terrorism operations across the North-East.
The command transition affected Sectors 1, 2 and 3 of the theatre and was conducted through formal handover ceremonies in line with military tradition, with authorities assuring that the changes would reinforce operational continuity and stability in the fight against insurgency.
In Sector 1, Maiduguri, the General Officer Commanding 7 Division Nigerian Army and Commander Sector 1, Brig.-Gen. Ugochukwu Unachukwu, handed over command to Brig.-Gen. Solomon Diwa during a ceremony at the Headquarters 7 Division, Maimalari Cantonment.
In his valedictory remarks, Unachukwu described his tenure as challenging but rewarding, stating that he was leaving behind a more stable operational environment.
He commended brigade and field commanders for their commitment and urged troops to sustain operational momentum.
In his remarks, the incoming commander, Brig.-Gen. Diwa, pledged to build on the achievements of his predecessor and improve operational effectiveness through innovation and enhanced combat readiness.
Similarly, in Sector 2, Damaturu, Yobe State, Brig.-Gen. Beyidi Martins handed over command to Brig.-Gen. Edet Effiong, praising officers and troops for their resilience and professionalism during his tenure.

Martins said the period witnessed notable operational successes, improved troop morale and strengthened civil-military cooperation within the sector.
Taking over command, Effiong assured troops of his commitment to consolidating operational gains while intensifying offensive operations against insurgents.
He stressed professionalism, discipline, adaptability and stronger collaboration with local communities as essential to tackling emerging security threats.
In Sector 3, Monguno, Borno State, Brig.-Gen. Shehu Ahmed assumed command from Maj.-Gen. Suleiman Tilawan in a ceremony that also marked a transition within the Multinational Joint Task Force component of the sector.
Tilawan thanked officers and soldiers for their support and sacrifices, attributing operational successes to teamwork and collective commitment.
He urged troops to remain steadfast and extend full cooperation to the new commander to sustain ongoing gains against terrorist elements.
Ahmed, in his acceptance remarks, pledged to build on the foundation laid by his predecessor with renewed emphasis on professionalism, operational efficiency, discipline and troop welfare.
He assured personnel that offensive operations would be sustained to restore lasting peace and stability in the North-East.
The ceremonies featured the signing of handover notes, symbolic transfer of command flags, operational briefings, visits to strategic locations and interactions with key stakeholders.
The Media Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East) Operation Hadin Kai, Lt.-Col. Sani Uba, said the Theatre Command remained committed to sustaining operational tempo across all sectors and denying terrorists freedom of action in the region.
