Military Foils Bandit Attack, Recovers 147 Rustled Livestock, Nabs Two Suspects in Kano
Troops of the Joint Task Force (JTF) Kano have foiled a bandit attack and recovered 147 rustled livestock during a coordinated operation along the Kano-Katsina border, arresting two suspected terrorists in the process.
The operation was carried out on Tuesday, July 15, following credible intelligence that armed bandits were moving stolen livestock through the Yankamaye-Rimaye axis, a known crossing route along the boundary between Kano and Katsina states.
According to the Nigerian Army, troops deployed at Forward Operating Bases (FOBs), reinforced by personnel from a Response Area, swiftly positioned themselves at strategic crossing points where they intercepted the fleeing bandits.
The troops engaged the criminals in a gun battle, overpowering them and forcing them to abandon the rustled animals before fleeing towards neighbouring Katsina State.
