Zulum’s Aide, Abdurrahman Bundi Bags Digital Communication Award
The Senior Technical Assistant to the Borno State Governor on Print and Digital Communications, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi, has emerged winner of the Digital Communication Award at the 6th National Spokespersons Awards (NSAwards) 2026, alongside 14 other communication professionals and institutions honoured for excellence in strategic communication.
The awards were presented on Wednesday at the NICON Luxury Hotel, Abuja, during the 6th National Spokespersons Awards and the 4th Economic Confidential Annual Lecture, organised by Image Merchants Promotion Limited (IMPR), publishers of PRNigeria, Economic Confidential and Spokespersons Digest.
Other notable winners included the Director of Corporate Communications of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mrs. Hakama Sidi-Ali, who was named Spokesperson of the Year, and the Kano State Commissioner for Information and Internal Affairs, Comrade Ibrahim Abdullahi Waiya, who received the Crisis Communicator Award. The Nigeria Customs Service and the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) were also recognised for outstanding achievements in professional communication.
The ceremony, which celebrated excellence across 15 communication categories, was chaired by the President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Dr. Ike Neliaku, and attracted senior government officials, communication professionals, academics and media practitioners from across the country.
Chairperson of the Awards Jury, Professor Saudat Salah Abdulbaqi, disclosed that the 2026 edition received 171 nominations, of which 99 entries met the initial eligibility requirements.
According to her, the entries underwent a rigorous second-stage evaluation that produced 42 shortlisted candidates, before 30 finalists emerged across the 15 award categories.

She explained that the seven-member jury assessed all entries using four key criteria: impact, innovation and originality, campaign reach, and quality of evidence, noting that only nominations demonstrating measurable results and verifiable evidence advanced through the selection process.
Speaking at the event, the Chief Executive Officer of IMPR, Alhaji Yusha’u Shuaib, said the National Spokespersons Awards and the annual Economic Confidential Lecture were established to encourage informed national discourse, celebrate excellence in strategic communication and strengthen professional standards within Nigeria’s public communication ecosystem.
“The awards are not merely about recognition. They are designed to encourage professionalism, inspire innovation and reinforce the critical role of effective communication in governance, corporate leadership and national development,” he said.
The event also featured the 4th Economic Confidential Annual Lecture, which brought together policymakers, public relations practitioners, corporate executives and scholars to discuss contemporary issues affecting governance, economic stability and public communication.
Among the dignitaries at the ceremony were the Director-General of the Voice of Nigeria (VON), Malam Jibrin Baba Ndace, who represented the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris; former Director of Defence Information, Major General Chris Olukolade (rtd.); Professor Sule Ya’u Sule; and several senior public relations and communication professionals.
The National Spokespersons Awards have grown into one of Nigeria’s leading platforms for recognising excellence in strategic communication, honouring individuals and institutions that have demonstrated innovation, professionalism and measurable impact in public engagement.
