Impressively Scary, Testing AI Tool for Public Relations

When I wake up this morning, I got an email notification whose subject reads
“Yushau, try Bard, an AI experiment by Google”

I am yet to be comfortable with developments in Artificial Intelligence. While I was reluctant to read further, I was instinctively compelled to check the message.

It reads: “Hi Yushau,We’re excited to introduce Local Guides to Bard, an AI experiment by Google. Think of Bard as your creative and helpful collaborator, here to boost your productivity, accelerate your ideas and fuel your curiosity.

“We can’t wait to see how you’ll use Bard to explore your world and bring your ideas to life. Local Guides can ask Bard to “come up with a list of creative things to do in NYC in September to celebrate 20 years of marriage” or “give me tips to take great photos” and much more.Bard is now available in over 40 new languages…

It stated that the platform had also expanded access to more places, including all 27 countries in the European Union (EU) and Brazil, so that Local Guides everywhere can access all that Bard has to offer.

While Bard is still under development, it’s improving every day with feedback from helpful users.

Then it says: “Give the latest features a spin – just go to bard.google.com whenever you need help.”

Well, in an attempt to try it, being a Public Relations Practitioner, I simple ask for “Power words to use on resume that show Public Relations”

Before I could say hi, it responded immediately with this: “Sure, here are some power words that you can use on your resume to show your skills and experience in public relations:

*Action verbs:* These words will help you to quantify your accomplishments and make your resume more impactful. Some examples include:

Developed
Managed
Coordinated
Launched
Implemented
Increased
Grew
Reduced
Exceeded

*Industry-specific terms:* These words will show the hiring manager that you have a deep understanding of the public relations field. Some examples include:

Media relations
Crisis communications
Event planning
Social media marketing
Stakeholder engagement
Brand management
Reputation management

Quantitative data: This will help you to demonstrate the results of your work. Some examples include:
Increased website traffic by 20%
Secured 100 media placements
Grew social media following by 50%
Reduced negative press mentions by 75%

Awards and honors: This will show the hiring manager that you have been recognized for your work. It therefore listed some of the awards in Public Relations.

Here I believe some recognisable awards can be listed including Spokesperson Communication Awards (SCA) hosted by Spokesperson’s Digest, Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, SABRE Awards endorsed by African Public Relations Asdociation (APRA), Golden World Awards of the International Public Relations Association (IPRA) and World Public Relations and Communication Awards by Global Alliance in PR among others.

The AI platform advises that when choosing power words for resumes, it is important to use words that are relevant to the specific job applicants are applying for. They should also avoid using overused or generic words.

It also provides some additional tips for using power words on a resume:

Use specific and measurable language.
Avoid passive voice.
Quantify your results whenever possible.
Use strong action verbs.
Proofread carefully to ensure that your resume is free of errors.

It concludes that by following the tips, applicants can use power words to create a resume that will impress hiring managers and land you the job you want.

It is quite impressive and scary when I couldnt locate the source of the information for proper attribution as I further nurse the palpable fear of our jobs taking over over by robots in the name of AI advancements.
