Peace-Building: Anambra Police Host Igbo Leaders, Fulani Herdsmen
In order to enhance peaceful coexistence and forestall breakdown of law and order between herdsmen and host community in Umumbo town in Ayamelum LGA of Anambra State, the Anambra State Police Command has today Wednesday 21/2/2018 summoned a Stake holders meeting between the Community leaders and representatives of the Fulani herdsmen in order to nip in the bud alleged rumour of threat to Public peace in the Area.
Participants in the meeting include HRH Igwe S. Ichidubem (JP) Igwe Omumbo,Chief HON. Onoura Joseph, HON Okafor Anthony, Morah Joseph. O and Chief Anumuda Nabeife.
Others include Gidado Siddiki (Sarkin Fulani) Aduka Abdullahi ,Likita Alhaji, Mohammed Buhari, Muhammad Idriss and Nyiwa Hussaini.
Responding, representatives of Fulani herdsmen stated that there is no any existing feud between them and the host community in the Area and that they are living peacefully without any hindrance.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police Anambra State Command CP Garba Baba Umar Psc assured them of adequate protection and urged both parties to familiarize themselves better and have regular meetings in order to enhance harmonious relationships amongst them.
Finally the IGWE of Omumba town HRH Igwe S. Ichidubem (JP) used the opportunity and commended the commissioner of Police for supporting His excellency Governor Willie Obianio in making the State the Safest in the Country.
