NAF Conducts Airstrikes, Neutralizes Bandits, Destroys Enclaves  in Zamfara, Kebbi

In a bold and strategic move against escalating banditry in Northwestern Nigeria, the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) has launched a series of intense airstrikes under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, targeting notorious criminal enclaves in Zamfara and Kebbi States.

Tagged Operation FARAUTAR MUJIYA, this campaign employs focused air interdiction missions as part of a broader effort to eradicate criminal elements threatening peace in the region.

The first wave of attacks commenced on November 8, 2024, after military intelligence confirmed high-bandit activity in areas long held by prominent warlords. Employing precision-targeted aerial assaults, NAF forces hit several key bandit camps, including Sangeko, a strategic site near the Zamfara-Kebbi border, and a fortified area around Asola Hill in Tsafe Local Government Area, known as a stronghold of the notorious bandit leader, Ado Aleiro.

These airstrikes obliterated Aleiro’s arms depot and neutralized numerous fighters, delivering a heavy blow to the criminal networks operating in the region.

NAF’s operations were conducted primarily at night, leveraging advanced surveillance systems to maximize the element of surprise. The strikes sent shockwaves through the criminal network, disrupting operations and greatly reducing the bandits’ operational capacities. In the ensuing chaos, several kidnapped victims managed to escape, fleeing to safety in nearby Kebbi State. These freed captives shared harrowing accounts of their escape, marking a turning point in the local battle against banditry.

The success of these air raids has inspired renewed hope among residents who have endured constant threats of violence and kidnappings. According to NAF, the mission not only disrupted the bandits but also demonstrated the Armed Forces’ unyielding commitment to restoring peace and security across the region.

Air Commodore Olusola F. Akinboyewa, the Director of Public Relations and Information for NAF, promised continued updates on Operation FARAUTAR MUJIYA as the military intensifies its campaign to dismantle bandit operations across Northwestern Nigeria.
