Kaduna Police Bust Kidnap Syndicates, Recover 4 AK-47 Rifles, Arrest 6 Suspects

The Kaduna State Police Command has arrested six suspected kidnappers and recovered four locally-fabricated AK-47 rifles in separate intelligence-led operations across the state.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Mansir Hassan, disclosed this in a statement on Saturday, highlighting the swift response of police operatives to credible tips from the public.

According to the statement, the first breakthrough came on Thursday at about 3:20 p.m., when intelligence revealed the presence of a suspected kidnapper hiding in Gida Abe. Acting on the tip, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) of Tafa Division mobilized a surveillance team, which led to the arrest of 30-year-old Isa Ibrahim.

“During interrogation, the suspect admitted to being a member of a kidnapping gang that operated in Kwara State,” Hassan said. “He revealed that following the arrest of his gang members in Kwara, he relocated to Kaduna to form a new syndicate.”

On the same day around 3:30 p.m., another police team from Saminaka Division, acting on intelligence, stormed Lamido village in Lere Local Government Area and apprehended two notorious suspects: Sani Liman of Unguwan Fa, Rami Kura, and Murtala Magaji (also known as Seto) from Dambata in Galadimawa village. Both suspects, linked to Kauru LGA, confessed to multiple kidnapping operations in the area.

Further success was recorded on Friday around 6:00 p.m. when the Ikara Division police team intercepted two suspected arms traffickers. The suspects, identified as Bajo Badun of Vom Quarters, Jos, and Magaji Abdullahi of Bargi village in Bebeji LGA of Kano State, were caught in possession of two fabricated AK-47 rifles.

Meanwhile, at about 4:30 a.m. the same day, a patrol team along the Kauru-Pambegua Road intercepted a suspicious man carrying a sack. Upon search, officers uncovered two locally-made rifles and a long chain hidden inside. The suspect, identified as Ishiyaku Ali of Bakin Dutse in Kauru LGA, was immediately taken into custody.

“All the suspects are in custody and are cooperating with ongoing investigations,” Hassan stated. “They have provided vital intelligence that will aid in tracking down other accomplices currently on the run.”

The Commissioner of Police, CP Rabiu Muhammad, reaffirmed the command’s commitment to public safety and called on residents to continue sharing timely and credible information with law enforcement agencies.
