PRNigeria had reported that in response to the tragic incident, the Chief of Army Staff declared a three-day mourning period from June 25 to 27, 2025.

As part of the observance, national and military flags will be flown at half-mast across Nigerian Army formations to honour the fallen personnel.

“I believe strongly that the Nigerian military will do its best to surmount the security challenges across the country,” Buratai said. “But achieving peace requires collective effort, including public support and inter-agency collaboration.”
