Arewa Economic Forum Chairman Loses Mother

The Chairman of the Arewa Economic Forum (AEF), Ibrahim Shehu Dandakata, has lost his mother, Hajiya Fatima Shehu Dandakata, popularly known as Hajiya Malama. She passed away at the age of 75.

Hajiya Malama dedicated more than four decades of her life to the propagation of Islam and was widely respected for her community service and religious devotion.

She was a founding member of the Kano State Hisbah Board and contributed immensely to its activities since its establishment by the state government in 2000. Starting as a volunteer, her commitment and dedication earned her a formal role within the board.

Reacting to the loss, AEF Chairman Ibrahim Shehu Dandakata described his mother as a “pillar of faith, discipline, and compassion.”

“My mother devoted her entire life to serving humanity and upholding Islamic values. Her guidance, prayers, and sacrifices shaped not just our family, but also touched the lives of countless others in the community,” Dandakata told PRNigeria.

He added that her departure marks the end of an era of selfless service and motherly counsel.

“We take solace in the legacy she left behind and in the knowledge that she lived a fulfilled life dedicated to Allah and the service of humanity,” he added.

Until her death, Hajiya Malama was also an active member of the Federation of Muslim Women’s Association of Nigeria (FOMWAN). She will be buried according to Islamic rites at 10:00 am on Sunday in Kano.
