ICPC appoints new spokespersons
The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) has appointed Mr. John Okor Odey, a Deputy Director, as its new Spokesperson, marking a strategic step in strengthening the Commission’s public communication framework.
Mr. Odey takes over from Mr. Demola Bakare, fsi, and will also lead the newly created Media and Public Communications Unit under the Office of the Hon. Chairman. The unit is expected to play a central role in deepening public awareness, enhancing media relations, and advancing the Commission’s anti-corruption mandate.

According to the ICPC, Mr. Odey’s appointment aligns with the Commission’s drive to improve transparency, public engagement, and strategic messaging. His extensive background in communication, media management, and public relations is seen as an asset to the Commission’s outreach and reform initiatives.
Before joining the ICPC, Mr. Odey began his career in the media as an editor, later expanding his professional portfolio into broadcast scripting and presentation. Within the Commission, he has served across several key departments, including Public Enlightenment, Protocol, and Zonal Operations.
Mr. Odey holds a degree in English/Literature, a Master’s Degree in Leadership Studies, and an MPhil in Leadership and Strategic Studies. He also possesses a Professional Diploma in Public Relations and is a certified member of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR).
His appointment is expected to further strengthen ICPC’s relationship with the public and stakeholders in the ongoing fight against corruption.
