EFCC Arraigns Peace Corps Commandant, Finance Director Over Alleged N60m Misappropriation
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Thursday, December 11, 2025, arraigned the Commandant of the Nigeria Peace Corps, Dickson Akon, and the Corps’ Director of Finance, Omolala Aminat Ahmed, before Justice H. B. Yusuf of the Federal Capital Territory High Court, Abuja, over alleged criminal misappropriation of N60 million.
The defendants were brought before the court on a two-count charge bordering on conspiracy and dishonest conversion of funds allocated to the Corps.

According to the first count, Akon and Ahmed were accused of conspiring in 2024, within Abuja, to commit criminal misappropriation, an offence punishable under Section 96 of the Penal Code Laws of the FCT.
The second count alleges that the duo dishonestly converted N46 million out of N60 million earmarked for the execution of a contract for the supply of badges for the Corps.
Both defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges when they were read to them.
Following their plea, EFCC counsel, Khalid Sanusi, requested a date for the commencement of trial.
Justice Yusuf granted each defendant ₦5 million bail with one surety in like sum. The court ordered that the sureties must be reputable individuals residing in Abuja.
The matter was adjourned to February 25, 2026, for trial.
