REVEALED: Why I Resigned as NAHCON Chairman – Prof. Saleh Usman
The Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON), Professor Sheikh Abdullahi Saleh Usman, has resigned from office, citing personal reasons.
His resignation takes effect from Monday, February 9, 2026.
In a statement announcing his decision, Prof. Usman said the move followed deep personal reflection, prayerful contemplation, and consultations with his family. He emphasized that his decision was made in good conscience and out of respect for the responsibilities attached to public service.
The former NAHCON boss disclosed that he had formally submitted his resignation in writing to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in line with Section 3(6) of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (Establishment) Act, 2006.
“I wish to state unequivocally that this decision is taken entirely for personal reasons,” he said, stressing that his resignation was not borne out of dissatisfaction with the Commission, the government, or its mandate.
