El-Rufai Mother Dies in Egypt Hospital
Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, mother of former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has passed away.
The death, which reportedly occurred on Friday afternoon, was confirmed by her grandson, Bello El-Rufai, in a statement shared on social media.
Announcing the development, Bello expressed gratitude for the life lived by the deceased and called for prayers for the repose of her soul.
“Inna lillahi wa inna ilayhi raji’un. From Allah we came and to Him we shall return. I wish to inform the public of the passing of my grandmother, Hajiya Umma El-Rufai, who died a few hours ago,” he stated.

He described her as the biological mother of Nasir El-Rufai and noted that the family remains thankful for her life and legacy, praying that Almighty Allah grants her eternal rest.
As of the time of filing this report, further details surrounding her death had not been made public.
The development comes amid ongoing legal proceedings involving El-Rufai, who was recently arraigned by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) on a 10-count charge bordering on alleged conversion of public property and money laundering.
The former governor has denied all charges. A Federal High Court sitting in Kaduna, presided over by Justice Rilwanu Aikawa, adjourned the hearing of his bail application to March 31 after listening to submissions from both prosecution and defence counsel.
Family members have urged the public to remember the deceased in prayers as they mourn her passing.
