Troops, DIA Operatives Raid Terrorist Hideout, Seize Firearms, Ammunition
Troops of Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS), in collaboration with operatives of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DIA), have recovered a firearm and a cache of ammunition during a coordinated cordon-and-search operation in Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Security sources disclosed that the operation was conducted on June 10 at suspected terrorist hideouts in Mutum Biyu community, following credible intelligence on the presence of criminal elements in the area.

According to the sources, troops of Sector 3 OPWS, deployed in Gassol, executed the operation based on actionable intelligence aimed at dismantling criminal networks operating within the locality.
A thorough search of the suspected enclaves led to the recovery of one revolver pistol, nine rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition, and 160 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The recovered weapons and ammunition have been taken into military custody for further investigation and appropriate action.
The operation forms part of ongoing joint security efforts to disrupt and degrade the activities of terrorist and criminal groups operating across the North Central region.
