Again, Troops Neutralise Bandits, Capture Suspects, Recover Livestock in Kaduna Operations
Troops of Sector 1, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA (OPFY), have recorded significant operational successes in a series of coordinated operations across Kaduna State, neutralising suspected bandits, arresting criminal suspects, recovering rustled livestock, and restoring public order in affected communities.
The operations, conducted between June 20 and 21, form part of ongoing military efforts to combat terrorism, banditry, cattle rustling, and other forms of criminality across the North-West region.
According to the Joint Task Force, troops acted on credible intelligence on June 20 regarding cattle rustling activities in a Kaduna community and swiftly mobilised to intercept the fleeing criminals.
The troops engaged the bandits in a gun battle, neutralising two suspects and recovering weapons, ammunition, and rustled livestock. The operation successfully disrupted the criminal activity and enabled the recovery of the stolen animals.
However, the military disclosed that one civilian lost his life during the incident as a result of the actions of the bandits.
In a separate operation on the same day, troops on night patrol intercepted two suspected bandits. Preliminary investigations revealed incriminating digital materials allegedly linking the suspects to terrorist and bandit networks operating within the region.
The suspects have since been taken into custody and are undergoing further investigation.
Similarly, on June 21, troops conducting a fighting patrol encountered armed criminals who retreated into nearby bushes after coming under intense military pressure.
Maintaining an aggressive pursuit, the troops apprehended two suspected bandit informants and scouts believed to be providing intelligence and logistical support to criminal groups.

Items recovered from the suspects included motorcycles and communication devices containing materials considered useful to ongoing investigations.
Military authorities said preliminary findings indicate the suspects’ involvement in criminal activities, while efforts are ongoing to uncover and dismantle wider criminal networks linked to them.
In another development, troops responded to a civil disturbance in Mararraba community following the mob killing of a female suspect accused of child trafficking.
According to the military, the situation escalated when the angry crowd attempted to attack public infrastructure and block a major highway, disrupting movement and threatening public safety.
Troops were immediately deployed to the area, where they restored law and order, dispersed the mob, secured critical facilities, and ensured the free flow of traffic.
Security forces also maintained a visible presence in the community to prevent further breakdown of law and order.
Commending the troops for their professionalism and operational effectiveness, the Theatre Commander of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Major General Warrah Bello Idris praised their vigilance, discipline, and commitment to ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operations.
He said the recent successes demonstrate the resolve of the Theatre of Operation to relentlessly pursue terrorists, bandits, and other criminal elements across the North-West theatre.
The commander assured residents that intelligence-driven and offensive operations would be sustained to further degrade criminal networks, enhance public safety, and restore lasting peace across Kaduna State and the wider region.
He also urged members of the public to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information to aid ongoing efforts to rid communities of criminal elements.
